We are fundraising for the Leukaemia Foundation

Hi, I’m Hamish.

This year, alongside my good mate Steve, I’m taking on Bloody Mission’s Vertical 5km Challenge — not for glory, not for distance, but for impact. Together, we’ll climb 5,000 vertical metres to support the incredible work of the Leukaemia Foundation.

Why this challenge?

I was first diagnosed with Hairy Cell Leukaemia in 2013, just two days after my 34th birthday. After chemotherapy, I was fortunate to enjoy 5½ years in remission before needing treatment again in 2018. I’ve now been in remission for more than seven years — something I’m deeply grateful for.

But over the past six months, my levels have been steadily dropping. Once again, I’m living with the uncertainty of whether more treatment is around the corner. So while I’m still fit, strong, and able, we're choosing to do something positive: helping those who are doing it tougher than I am.

The reality is stark:
Right now, more than 140,000 Australian families are living with blood cancer, and 16 people lose their lives every single day. It’s a silent crisis — but one we can change.
