I’m fundraising for the Leukaemia Foundation

I’m joining Bloody Mission’s Vertical 5km Challenge to push harder than ever — not for distance, but for impact. I’ll be climbing 5,000 vertical metres — for the Leukaemia Foundation. Why? Because right now, over 140,000 Aussie families are facing blood cancer, and 16 lives are lost each day. It’s a hidden crisis that demands action. I’m raising funds so families can access the emotional and practical support they urgently need — and to fuel research that brings us closer to a world where blood cancer no longer takes lives. Your support turns my effort into impact. Will you join me and help make every vertical metre matter?
I've chosen to undertake this challenge at Dooragan National Park (North Brother Mountain) on Saturday/Sunday 29-30 November.  I'll be smashing the 5000m vert in one brutal effort, with repeats of Laurieton Track, aka the goat track until I accumulate the 5000m goal.!!!  More details to come...

Your Impact

Help me earn the Transportation badge. That's enough to provide a month of free transportation for people who are too ill to drive after chemotherapy treatment.

I’m $1,256 away from my next impact milestone. Please help me reach it.

My Updates

Six days to go....

Sunday 23rd Nov
Vertical 5k training wrapped up today with two repeats of Dooragan.  Some light stormy rain (including tiny hail) made for more comfortable temperatures & conditions - it did bring out the leeches though!
It's been a big plus being able to train on the same track I'll be using to complete this challenge - homeground advantage...  Over the past month I've managed to do 5 repeats on 2 separate occasions, as well as the 2 today.  I'm feeling well prepared to do 12 back-to-back repeats next weekend & rack up the 5000m vert needed to complete the challenge & do my bit to raise much needed $ to help those living with Leukaemia.

Sunday, V5 (Vertical 5km) Training Day - Syndicate Track...

Sunday 16th Nov
The ankle crushing, calf busting, Achilles munching Syndicate Track (Dorrigo National Park) is pretty good value if you're training vert...  We were close to calling the whole thing off - when we arrived at Bellingen this morning we found our go to bakery for pre-run coffee & pastries was closed...  😆
So far, V5 has raised over $100 000 to assist people with Leukaemia.  25 participants completed their challenge yesterday at Heatons Gap.  It was a long hot day that started at 7am, & many were still chipping away at 9pm, 14 hours later to achieve their 5000m vert.
So that leaves just over 25 participants (me included) to complete their challenge between 26 - 30 November.   It would be amazing to double the amount raised to $200 000 by the end of the challenge.  Myself & the other participants are happy to do the hard stuff to reach this amount, but we need you to do your bit with a donation to my fundraising page.  No time like now to hit that donate button...

Update: Bloody Mission's Vertical 5km Challenge - fundraising for Leukaemia Foundation

Wednesday 12th Nov
Just an update to share details about the trail I'll be repeating to complete Bloody Mission's Vertical 5km Challenge later this month...
It's a 4.2km out & back along Laurieton Track, the goat track on Dooragan (North Brother Mountain) from the Lookout down to Laurieton.  Each repeat will begin at the Lookout.  I'll follow the trail down the mountain until I reach my turnaround point at the bridge at the bottom of the mountain.  From here I begin the challenging hike back up the track to the Lookout at the top where I started.
Each repeat will give me roughly 430m in vertical gain, so 12 repeats (up & down the mountain) will give me the 5000m vert require to complete the challenge.  I'll cover just over 50km distance up & down the trail during the 12 repeats.  It'll definitely be the slowest 50km Ultra I've ever done!!!
I'm off to an amazing start with donations since my fundraising page went live just a few days ago.  If you'd like to support my challenge & support people living with Leukaemia, hit the donate button...
