I’m fundraising for the Leukaemia Foundation in honour of my father who passed away from multiple myeloma in January 2026.
In January this year, my family lost 'the best man we've ever known' to multiple myeloma. He fought hard for 8 years with a strong mind and positive attitude, while his once fit and healthy body fell apart around him. He suffered greatly with chronic pain, multiple breaks and fractures caused by the myeloma, but he never complained, and he never gave up. He was an extremely strong and independent man and someone I'm so very proud to have called my father.Dad really wanted most to spend time with his grandchildren and for them to remember him. He had hoped to have a couple of more years with them and that was evident by his never give up attitude. In honour of my father, I have committed to challenge my body and mental strength to walk/ run 5,000 vertical metres over 5 days whilst raising money and awareness for the Leukaemia Foundation.
I have joined Bloody Mission's Vertical 5km challenge to help make an impact. I’ll be climbing 5,000 vertical metres — for the Leukaemia Foundation. Why? Because right now, over 170,000 Aussie families are facing blood cancer, and 16 lives are lost each day. It’s a hidden crisis that demands action. I will be helping to raise funds so that other families affected by blood cancer can access the emotional and practical support they urgently need — and to fuel research that brings us closer to a world where blood cancer no longer takes lives.
